On August 9th Eboni Ardell will read from her fantasy novel © 48fourteen Publishing. Its book jacket reads: “What you are will end everything you know. Embracing who you are will start a war… Life is great when you’re good-looking and popular … so long as no one knows you’re a vulatto. Being half-alien gets you labeled “loser” quicker than being a full vader. So it’s a good thing Devon, Lyle, and Lawrence can easily pass for human—until the night of the party. Nothing kills a good time faster than three brothers sharing a psychic vision of a fourth brother who’s off-world and going to die unless they do something. But when your brother’s emergency happens off-planet, calling 9-1-1 really isn’t an option. E. Ardell spent her childhood in Houston, Texas, obsessed with anything science fiction, fantastic, paranormal or just plain weird. She took her obsession to the next level, earning an MFA from the University of Southern Maine where she specialized in young adult fiction.
September 13th will bring in one of our long-time readers to share his beautiful book © Trafford Publishing, illustrated with scintillating paintings done by the author Father Harry Freirmuth and his mother. It’s a page turner you won’t believe was written by a Catholic priest. LO! JACARANDA is a young, Spanish-Gypsy woman in 1760s Spain. As fate would have it, she is born and raised as the daughter of a wealthy ranchero owner. A beautiful life of prosperity and love stretches on before her as the day of her betrothal approaches. However, her gypsy heritage is revealed before the wedding and The Spanish Inquisition condemns her to be burnt at the stake. Always-resourceful Jacaranda escapes disguising herself as a man. She finds work on a slave ship headed to New Spain, but just when she gets comfortable, pirates seize her ship. Get the book to follow the many twists and turns of this fascinating work by 89 year old Harry!
