Networking Aloud: A monthly event (every second Tuesday) open to the public. Fifteen to twenty minutes from a featured reader followed by a literary open mic. Come early and sign up for a five to seven minute reading from any genre: prose, screenplay, poetry, essay etc.
This month’s featured writer is: Garland Thompson Jr. Poet, actor, writer and founding director of the West Coast Championship Poetry Slam, Garland is also a great teacher. His inspirational coaching of Monterey County high school students led to four California State Poetry Out Loud winners. Garland was the 2007-2008 Pacific Grove Poet Laureate and has performed in many Shakespearean productions as an actor with Pacific Repertory Theater in Carmel. You can watch him in action each week at the East Village Coffee Lounge in Monterey where he hosts the Rubber Chicken Poetry Slam and Open Mic.
