The first Sunday of each month, come to Old Capitol Books to hone your poetry skills in a two-hour workshop facilitated by the Boukra Collective.
What to expect:
Two-hours of facilitated and structured poetry writing and workshopping. Participants can bring poems that they’ve previously written in order to be edited and workshopped by the group, but there will be opportunities early in the workshop to write your own poems. Poetry writing is both individual and collective.
When/Where:
First Sunday of each month (next workshop is Sunday 5 December), 7-9pm.
Old Capitol Books, 482 Alvarado St., above Twisted Roots, downtown Monterey
Cost:
$10, no one turned away for lack of funds
About the workshops:
The workshops are facilitated by the Boukra Collective, a group of writers, artists, and thinkers with varying levels of affiliation with Old Capitol Books. Each facilitator is an experienced and published poet. The workshops are designed to push people out of their comfort zones and diligently work to improve people’s work. We believe that great poetry is not always an individual exercise of personal expression, but is often the result of many minds and collective editing.
